Harris Weaving Looms has been the choice of craft weavers, schools, colleges and textile designers since 1939. We have worked throughout the years with education providers to ensure we produce weaving looms that cater to the requirements of weaving and textiles courses. At Brighton University, students greatly enjoy using table looms for the set of 10” samples they create as part of their assessment. Hand looms also enable students to see the design as it is being created which helps to generate new ideas while working.
Dr. Harris first produced his famous Table Loom in 1939 and the principles of his design, featuring hardwood and an easy action shedding mechanism, are continued to this day.
In 1980, the option of electronic pattern control was added and the loom was linked to the computer, liberating the textiles designer from many repetitive tasks. The looms are made from carefully selected and seasoned beech with brass ratchets and plated hardware with a polished finish. Stainless steel reed option is also available.
