Workbenches

EMIR benches are built to order and fitted out to suit the customer’s application. The designs illustrated have proved over the years to suit most requirements and are classified accordingly.

The construction of the solid beech benches is by drawbolted and mortise and tenon joints giving the strength to withstand racking forces. The timber is close grained, splinter resistant and hardwearing. The design is based on interchangeable components, which can be assembled to a multitude of sizes.

The EMIR beech top is flush bonded and braced to maintain flatness. The wood is warm to the touch and absorbs vibration and noise. For lighter duty applications cork based lino is both waterproof and more economical. In some situations metal, laminate plastic or sacrificial facing will be appropriate.

The underframe configuration can be adapted to maximise strength, storage space or access for seated work. The normal height for EMIR benches is 85cm, alternatively from 75 to 95cm and higher.

A height adjustable steel frame, (the Varihi), gives ergonomic efficiency. Hydraulically operated it accepts impact loads and damps vibration like the beech framed bench.
